Doctor fired over 'America Dies on Dunkin' sign -

A county commissioner who owns a doughnut shop and two lawyers who own a new Dunkin’ Donuts managed to get the doctor fired. “I think he was somewhat of a zealot,” Thomas (County Commissioner) says. “I don’t have a problem with him pushing an agenda, it’s the way he did it. People borrowed money to go into business and they are being attacked by the government.”

What you eat is important to your health. Eating doughnuts and diner food is potentially dangerous. I like bacon too, but the government should be delivering a message of healthy eating habits. Unfortunately, that doesn’t include doughnuts and diner food. Take notice, there is a reason why Mr. Robbins from the Baskin-Robbins ice cream family isn’t in the family business.

Yummy apple pie from local farmers market down the street in Albany, NY.  I especially like how the vendors accept food stamps and electronic benefit transfers.

“There is always this expectation that at some point things will turn around. The interns say, ‘When I finish internship and become a second-year resident, things will get better.’ The residents say, ‘When I finish training, I will finally have balance again.’ And doctors in practice may believe that they will find more balance once they have retired.” — http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/18/health/18chen.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&em

High Speed Rail

The American dependency on automobiles is made worse by the inadequate North American rail system. I’m currently on an Amtrak passenger train and it’s the slowest train I have ever been on.
The Northeast needs some serious railway investment so that cities will not have to be connected by only cars and trucks.
Imagine a typical 250 mph bullet train connecting the major cities of the northeast; Boston, NYC, Buffalo, and perhaps all the way to Chicago.

Don’t worry Democrats, if things go very badly tonight, there is always Canada.

iPhone study tool

Ambiance is a great app for those that like a coffee shop environment for studying but can’t concentrate with the noise.
But, why does it have to be so massive?
